Cuba today in 3rd day of the 1st Central American and Caribbean Games Santa Marta 2022

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 22 (ACN) Jaimet Ruano will be today in the center of attention for Cuba on the third day of the First Central American and Caribbean Games of Santa Marta 2022, in the sailing tournament of the multidisciplinary event that will conclude next 26th.

Ruano is in second place among the five registered athletes in the Sunfish class, with eight points, two third places and two first places in the first four races of the series of eight events scheduled by the organizers.

Undoubtedly, the main victory ticket of Cuba so far, in a class led by Venezuelan Sabrina Hernandez (6/1-1-2-3).

Further away from the first step is also Cuban Dennier Infante, who in the ILCA Laser 7 is placed fourth (18/4-7-4-3), with Puerto Rican Pedro Luis Fernandez in first place (6/2-2-1-1), with a participation of eight athletes and an equal number of cumulative races.

Something similar happens with Manuel Enrique Lugo, in Sunfish, owner of the sixth place (24/3-7-7-7-7), among eight athletes and similar number of races, and Lisbetsy Rojo (40/9-10-9-12), in Laser ILCA 6, a class in which 11 compete in eight races.

Luis Giraldo Gonzalez (IQFOIL Board) and Adriano Castro (KITE SURF), who could not sail or finish in four and five races, presented quite a few difficulties.

On Monday, Cuba completed its delegation of 14 athletes with the arrival in the Colombian city of beach volleyball players and open water swimmers, who will compete from 24 to 26 and 23 to 26, respectively.

Santa Marta 2022 summoned 10 sports with the participation of more than 500 athletes from 26 countries, and so far Venezuela dominates the actions with eight gold medals, one silver and one bronze, followed by Colombia (2-2-2), Puerto Rico (2-1-3) and Dominican Republic (1-0-0), the four nations that accumulate at least one title.
