HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 10 (ACN) The parajudoka Sheyla Samarian Hernandez, second in the individual tournament, will be the only Cuban representative in the team event of the World Championships held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Sheyla (+70 kg, J2 category) was chosen to integrate a representative team of the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA, for its acronym in English) alongside four other athletes who will compete against teams from other countries, including Brazil, France and Azerbaijan.
The Cuban won the silver medal after losing in the final to the Italian Carolina Costa. None of the other Cubans in competition made it to the finals, with Yordani Fernández (+90 kg, J2), paralympic champion in Río 2016 as the best placed (5th).
