
HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 7 (ACN) The Cuban women's, men's and mixed teams will have action today in the 10-meter (m) air pistol, corresponding to the Pan American Shooting Championship held in Lima, Peru, until the 14th.
Among the ladies, on Sunday, Cuban shooters Laina Perez, Sheyla Gonzalez and Claudia Hernandez scored 1,673 points to close the group of the four teams qualified for the medal discussion.
Ahead of them were the representatives of the United States (1690), Guatemala (1676) and Ecuador (1674), according to the official website of the International Federation of that sport.
Among the men, Jorge Grau, Yohe Tamayo and Guillermo Pias totaled 1,718 points for the accumulated individual performances, to lead the quartet of teams that will seek the medals.
The Americans (1715), the Colombians (1704) and the Brazilians (1703) followed behind the Cuban shooters.
Also today, in the second competitive date of this competition, Grau himself and his partner Perez will be in the qualifying round of mixed teams, as well as Pias and Gonzalez.
This tournament, to be held in Peru, will be a qualifier for the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile 2023 and also for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024, the latter for which the winners of each of the events will guarantee a place.
