HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 24 (ACN) Super heavyweight Marifelix Sarría's gold medal in the rebound closed Cuba's participation in the Pan American Youth Weightlifting Championship in Lima, Peru.
The Cuban athlete had a perfect competition in the rebound, with lifts of 127, 133 and 137 kilograms (kg), in the over-87 kg bodyweight category.
The silver medal went to Brazil's Taiane de Lima, who also lifted 137 kg, but weighed more than the Cuban.
Emma Friesen, from Canada, won the bronze with a mark of 133 kg.
At the start, Sarria won bronze in the snatch modality, with 102 kg, behind Friesen (112) and De Lima (105), and finally, the podium in the total was occupied by Friesen (245 kg), De Lima (242 kg) and Sarria (239 kg).
In addition to these three medals for Sarria, Cuba obtained three silver medals thanks to Elizabeth Rodriguez, 87 kg, and another silver with Lesther Fernandez, 102 kg.
