
HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 24 (ACN) Cuban pistol shooters Leuris Pupo, Jorge Felix Alvarez and Jorge Grau will compete today in the team event of the 25-meter (m) rapid fire pistol, corresponding to the World Shooting Sport Championship to be held in Cairo, until the 27th.
Pupo, Alvarez and Grau will join forces in this modality to try to advance to the final, a goal that will be pursued by 15 other teams.
This specialty will have two qualifying stages with three series of shots for each one of the competitors, and after the sum of points, the finalists will be decided.
On Sunday, the individual 25-meter (m) rapid fire pistol competition concluded, in which Pupo, a double Olympic medalist, finished 16th.
Previously, on Saturday, he had placed 12th with a score of 292 (99-98-95), to complete a good performance on the opening day of that event.
Alvarez, winner of the Pan American Games in Lima 2019 and bronze medal at the World Cup in Munich, Germany, in 2018, and Grau, individual and mixed team gold medalist in the 10m air pistol in the Peruvian capital, also competed for the Caribbean nation in that specialty.
In the case of Alvarez totaled 567 points to place 48th; while Grau reached 564 as owner of the 51st place, according to the official site of the competition.
