
HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 21 (ACN) Cuban Laina Perez placed 26th today in the 25-meter (m) pistol, in the qualifying phase of precision shooting, corresponding to the World Shooting Sport Championship to be held in Cairo, Egypt, until the next 27th.
Perez, gold medalist in the 10 m air pistol at the Pan American Games in Lima 2019, scored 288 points with shots of 93, 99 and 96 units in the three heats, to complete the first competitive day in that event.
Tomorrow, the Cuban athlete will try to improve her position in the rapid fire stage, in the same 25 m pistol specialty, which will define this Saturday the finalists who will fight for the medals.
Today in the precision round the first four were Rhythm Sangwan (295), from India, followed by Bulgaria's Antoaneta Kostadinova with the same score; Greece's Anna Korakaki and Lithuania's Gabriele Rankelyte added 293 scratches, according to the competition's official website.
In this initial round, 91 women were presented, of which two were disqualified, so 89 are still in competition.
