HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 11 (ACN) The Cuban Elizabeth Rodriguez ended her performance with a gold medal in the Merengue Archery Cup held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, last qualifier for the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador.
Rodriguez, Cuba’s current national champion, won the gold medal in the individual recurve event with a 6-2 victory in the final over Molly Nugent (United States) and achieved her main goal, mainly to qualify for the Central Caribbean event next year.
Her teammates Hugo Franco and Adrián Puentes finished second and third in the recurve individual event after losing respectively to Nicholas D'Amour (U.S. Virgin Islands) and Andrés Aguilar (Chile).
Team Cuba came to competition with the objective of getting eight places for San Salvador 2023, which they did thanks to the results of the men's and women's recurve teams and of the individual compound teams.
