Cuba with five canoeists at Canoe Sprint World Cup in Halifax



HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 2 (ACN) Cuba will participate at the Canoe Sprint World Championships in Halifax, Canada, with five canoeists led by Olympic champion Serguei Torres, Aug. 3-7 at Banook Lake, in Halifax, Canada.

Along with Torres, Tokyo 2020 champion in the two-seater canoe (C-2) at 1,000 meters, will be Jose Ramon Pelier and Tibiani Dieguez, led by Yosniel Dominguez, and Yarisleidis Cirilo and Katherin Nuevo, under the direction of Nelson Perales.
Serguei will compete in the C-2 at 500 meters in the company of Tibiani, while Pelier will compete in the C-1 at 1,000 meters (Thursday).

For her part, Cirilo will be in action on Wednesday in the C-2 at 500 and 200 meters, together with Nuevo, while on Thursday she will row in the C-1 at 200 meters, and on Sunday in the C-1 at 5,000 meters.

In May, the Cubans won four gold medals and one bronze at the World Cup in Poznan, Poland, and shortly before that, two gold, two silver and one bronze in a similar event in Recise, Czech Republic.
