HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 17 (ACN) Cuba will face Puerto Rico today, in search of the last chance of victory in the preliminaries for both teams, in the 19th women's senior volleyball Pan American Cup, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The Cubans and Puerto Ricans will play after losing to the other four teams in competition until today in the elimination phase in the round-robin system.
They lost in the previous rounds to the Dominican Republic, Canada, US and Mexico.
On Thursday, Cuba lost 0-3 to the Americans, the Dominicans overcame the Canadians 3-0 and the Mexicans beat the Puerto Ricans 3-1.
So far, the hosts are at the top of the standings with 20 points, four wins and no losses, followed by the Americans (19/4-0), the Canadians (10/2-2), the Mexicans (8/2-2), the Dominican Republic (2/0-4) and the Puerto Ricans (1-0-4).
Friday's schedule is completed with the Canada-Mexico and Dominican Republic-United States matches.
On Saturday, the matches for places five and six are scheduled, and the semifinals between places two and three, and one and four, for Sunday to discuss the bronze and gold medals.
