HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 28 (acn) Cuban GM Carlos Albornoz was one of the winners in the second round of the 2020 Accentus Young Masters running in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland, where the World Team beat 4.5-0.5 the local squad.
The twice-Cuban monarch won in 53 moves of an English opening over FM Aurelio Colmenares.
This was Albornoz´s second victory in this 10-round Scheveningen system contest.
The World Team made evident its superiority through the wins of Russian GM Nikita Petrov, German Alexander GM Donchenko and Italian GM Sabino Brunello over IM Fabian Banziger, GM Noel Studer and FM Theo Stijve.
The honor of the host team was saved by IM Gabriel Gahwiler who managed to draw with Austrian GM Andreas Diermair, according to Chess24 website.
Today´s third round includes the matches Albornoz – Stijve, Petrov-Colmenares, Donchenko-Banziger, Diermair-Studer and Brunello-Gahwiler.
