SANTA CLARA, Cuba, May 13 (ACN) Researchers at the Center for Bioactive Chemicals of the Central University “Marta Abreu” of Las Villas (UCLV), in this central province, obtained in the first months of 2025 five new patents linked to the development of bioproducts for plant protection and human health, with impact on agriculture and industry.
PhD. Ana Maria Salazar, director of Science and Technology of the UCLV, told the press that the collective maintains an upward trend in obtaining innovative solutions and technology transfer, which contributes to scientific sovereignty and sustainable development of the country.
During this period, the center validated technologies in local companies and extended the use of the bioproduct Quitosana in the treatment of seeds and crops, besides consolidating the line of natural extracts for the pharmaceutical industry.
The Center for Bioactive Chemicals reported the publication of 18 articles in indexed international scientific journals and participation in three collaboration projects with foreign entities, which strengthens visibility and academic exchange.
In the opinion of the directive, the insertion in international research networks has allowed the strengthening of doctoral training and access to advanced equipment.
The Central University “Marta Abreu” of Las Villas promoted the integration of undergraduate and graduate students to the projects of the Center for Bioactive Chemicals, which favors professional preparation and the continuity of research lines.
With more than three decades of work, the Center for Bioactive Chemicals of the UCLV ratified its leadership in applied research and its contribution to the technological advancement of Villa Clara and Cuba.
