HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 25 (ACN) As part of the 5th International Convention Cuba Salud 2025 and to exchange knowledge and criteria on oncology, the Jamaican delegation participating in the event visited the National Institute of Oncology and Radiobiology, in Havana.
During the meeting, Cuban doctors explained to the Jamaican representatives the behavior of cancer in the country and how the integral program for the control of this pathology and its diversity is developed.
Yuliet Martinez Carrasco, deputy director of Medical Assistance at the Institute, pointed out to the visitors that Cuba has a national network made up of four specialized hospitals, five oncology units, 29 services to treat this disease in provincial hospitals and nine radiotherapy departments.
She pointed out that the institution where the exchange took place is the main center for the introduction and evaluation of new technologies in this specialty, through clinical, basic, translational and epidemiological research.
Martinez Carrasco stressed Cuba's intention to continue providing health to the people of the world as one of the principles of the Cuban Revolution taught by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
Errol Greene, permanent secretary of the Jamaican Ministry of Health, said exclusively to the Cuban News Agency that this space for fraternization and knowledge is important for his nation, since in that country there is a shortage of medical personnel and they depend on Cuban help.
For her part, Melody Ennis, director of Jamaica's National Electronic Immunization Registry, explained that participating in Cuba Salud has boosted exchanges with professionals from other latitudes.
According to both parties, around 400 professionals provide services in different regions of Jamaica, which is an example of the brotherhood between these nations.
The 5th Cuba Salud 2025 International Convention, which brings together delegates from different parts of the world and has the People's Republic of China as Guest of Honor, promotes the growth of a field that is indispensable for human development.
