HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 22 (ACN) As part of the activities of the 5th Cuba Health 2025 International Convention, the One Health National Congress will be held today for the first time at the Havana Convention Center.
This event will address the progress and deepen the intersectoriality between health, animal care and ecosystems, with the participation of more than 200 delegates in person and virtually, including international leaders, 12 experts and representatives of different UN agencies.
Odalys Bravo, coordinator of the Congress, told the Cuban News Agency that the academic program is made up of 20 panels and 12 conferences on the results of the implementation of the Animal Welfare Law, Health Law, as well as topics on zoonosis, food safety, antimicrobial resistance,
integrated surveillance, professional training and communication.
She also highlighted the presence of the Ministries of Agriculture, Education, Higher Education, Food Industry, Energy and Mines, Hydraulic Resources and Civil Defense, in addition to political and mass organizations for their involvement in the government project and health strategy One Health, approved in 2023.
Bravo highlighted that Cuba is organizing this 1st Congress with positive results in the harmonization of the algorithm for avian influenza in humans and animals, integrated training among various institutions and proposals analyzed to create the One Health Observatory in the Caribbean nation.
The Cuba Health 2025 Convention will also include the International Seminar on Primary Health Care, Global Health and International Cooperation, a workshop on economics in the health field towards the approach of a new health and the Informatics Congress.
There will also be the Maternal and Child Health Symposium, panels and conferences on science and innovation in the development of healthcare systems and services, the International Conference on Medical Education, the International Forum on Hygiene and Epidemiology and the Oral and Dental Health Symposium.
The associated Health for All and Medical Tourism and Wellness fairs will continue at the Pabexpo Fairgrounds with work meetings between participating companies, presentations of medical products and technologies and panels dedicated to foreign investment in the Cuban health sector.
Cuba Health 2025 will continue until April 25 with a broad scientific program made up of 36 events to discuss public health management models at the international level, with emphasis on the adoption of a comprehensive strategy based on the One Health approach.
More than 5,000 delegates and guests from 88 countries, including ministers and other high-level officials from the sector, are attending this important event, which opened on Monday.
