Cuba to hold pediatrician health campaign

 HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 4 (ACN) The Un Abril por la Pediatría (An April for Pediatrics) campaign will be carried out throughout Cuba this month to highlight the importance of children's health and the work of professionals in their care, and to promote various actions to raise awareness about the challenges in this area of medicine.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) and the Cuban Society of Pediatrics, there will be educational activities, vaccination days and cultural events designed for families and health personnel.

Today, the National Road Safety Symposium will take place in this capital city, an event that, under the slogan "Stop the risks and reach your destination", seeks to raise awareness on accident prevention and the importance of collective responsibility.

From April 7 to 12, health authorities will carry out a monitoring of quality standards in comprehensive care for adolescents in 35 municipalities of the country, an experience that aims to evaluate and strengthen the services provided to this population group, the press release highlighted.

In addition, the new Protocol for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse will be presented, strengthening the institutional commitment to the protection of children's rights, and Open Doors to Pediatrics will be held with the aim of bringing the community closer to good practices for the health of infants.

The organizers also announced the celebration of a National Workshop on Ultrasonography and Hemodynamics in different Neonatology services, and a virtual course on pediatric surgery that will reinforce technical competencies in this field.
The polio vaccination campaign, a crucial action for preventive health at an early age, will begin on April 22.

The closing of the campaign is scheduled for April 30, with lectures that will take stock of what has been done, evaluate the impact of the initiatives and present the challenges and action plans to consolidate strategies in the future.

The National Department of Maternal and Child Care, the National Directorate of Postgraduate Studies of Minsap, the national and provincial Pediatrics groups, as well as the National Department of Nursing are also sponsoring this " Un Abril Por la Pediatria " day.
