Cuba and China Address Bilateral Scientific Cooperation

Havana, Sept 30 (ACN) Representatives of Cuba and China opened on Monday the 13th Joint Science and Technology Commission between the governments of both nations at Havana’s Melia Cohiba Hotel.

The event included previous debates in groups of Chinese and Cuban experts from scientific and academic institutions specialized in the areas of Molecular Immunology, Biotechnology, Neurosciences, Nanotechnology and others, said Ulises Fernandez, director of international relations at the Cuban Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment.

The Chinese visitors are headed by a deputy minister of science, technology and the environment and officials from the Chinese Academy of Science, the National Foundation of Natural Science and technological universities, Fernandez said.

Prior to the event, the experts visited local scientific centers on Sunday like the Center for Advanced Studies—a national platform to develop Nano-sciences and Nanotechnology.

A bilateral cooperation accord signed 35 years ago between China and Cuba set up the Joint Commission aimed at fostering the exchange on technology and sciences.lc
