HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 30 (ACN) Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, marked today the Day of the Cuban Pediatrician.
On X, the party leader congratulated all specialists who guarantee the life and health of Cuba's most precious treasure: its children.
On the same social network, Jose Angel Portal Miranda, minister of public health, highlighted the essential work of these professionals to protect the health of our children.
Every September 30, since 2008, the Caribbean nation commemorates the Day of the Pediatrician, on the occasion of the birthday of Professor Angel Arturo Aballí Arellano (1880-1952), considered the father of this specialty on the island.
Dr. Aballi was the founder of the Cuban Society of Pediatrics on October 7, 1928, and a trainer of several generations of Cuban physicians.
An outstanding member of the Royal Academy of Medical, Physical and Natural Sciences of Havana, Dr. Aballi, professor emeritus of the University of Havana, was born in Matanzas on September 30, 1880 and is considered the greatest pediatrician in Cuba's history.
