CIENFUEGOS, Cuba, Sep 11 (ACN) As part of the Cuban health program to fight pneumococcal disease, the first dose of the vaccine Pneumosil-10 valente is being administered to 1,200 babies in the province of Cienfuegos.
The immunization process started in Cumanayagua, the province’s only mountainous municipality, where the local government has seen to it that all families from far-off areas can have their offspring vaccinated, according to Arasay Rodríguez González, director of the municipal polyclinic.
In sixty days, the children will get a second dose, along with a booster vaccine in the case of those who are at least 11 months old.
These babies in Cienfuegos are on the list of 27,500 infants born in 2024 who will benefit from this type of immunization in Cuba.
