Havana, Aug 20 (ACN) The World Health Organization (WHO) regional director Hans Kluge said on Tuesday during a press conference that the Mpox virus cannot compare to COVID-19 because sanitary authorities already count on enough expertise to control its spread.
Kluge said we can and we must face Mpox together as he suggested measures to control and eliminate the virus or the world will be submitted to another scenario of panic and neglect.
According to the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) Mpox is mainly transmitted by direct or indirect blood contact, body fluids, skin lesions o infected animals.
A secondary people-to-people transmission can occur by infected respiratory secretions or skin lesions or by contact with objects recently infected by a patient fluids or materials.
New variants of the Mpox virus have appeared recently in Sweden, linked to a spread in Africa. lc
