Cienfuegos, Jan 22 (ACN) Cuban doctor Alfredo Dario Espinosa, who bears the tittle of Cuban Labor Hero, was granted the Pan-American Health Organization's Award for Health Services Management and Leadership 2023.
The Representative of the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) Gerardo de Cosio handed over the prize to the Cuban medical expert during a ceremony at the Medical University of the South-Central province of Cienfuegos in the presence of Communist Party leader Maryde Fernandez, and Health Minister Jose Angel Portal Miranda.
Doctor Espinosa was granted the significant distinction for is contribution to primary healthcare, the promotion of health by addressing non-transmissible diseases in vulnerable populations and senior citizens and for the impact of his publications on the scientific community.
In his remarks at the ceremony, the expert expressed his thankfulness for the prize and said that such an event would have not been possible to occur in Cuba without an over-60-year social project aimed at transforming and improving the people’s health.
