HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 9 (ACN) Concepción Campa Huergo, receiver of the degree of Doctor honoris causa from of the University of Havana, was granted the Pro Patria Award, established in 2022 by the Economic Society of Friends of the Country (SEAP) for outstanding scientific groups who excelled in the fight against COVID-19.
A member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Dr. Campa Huergo has earned national and international recognition.
She is the main author of the flagship of Cuban science, namely the vaccine Va-Mengoc-BC, winner of the Gold Medal of the World Intellectual Property Organization for being the world’s first and only effective drug against infection by meningococcal group B bacteria.
