Health tourism gains ground in central Cuba

CIEGO DE ÁVILA, Cuba, Jan 3 (ACN) The office of Comercializadora de Servicios Médicos Cubanos (SMC) in this province promotes health tourism in the destination Jardines del Rey through a specialized care program that includes dolphin-assisted therapy and other medical services.

In addition to the traditional sun and beach tourism, according to SMC director Dr. Agnerys Cruz Rodríguez, the program includes the provision of health foods and the use of ancestral energies in, as well as the contribution of various medical specialists to, the treatment of autism and other disorders leading to impaired socialization.

Available travel packages for 14 and 21 days give visitors access to Eastern, Western and dolphin-assisted therapies and the chance to visit local farms and development projects and enjoy ecological tours, peasant food, traditional Cuban drinks, tropical fruits and fresh vegetables.

Negotiations between SMC and Blue Diamond Resorts make these services possible in various facilities across Jardines del Rey—0Cuba's second best sun-and-beach destination—including the Grand Muthu Rainbow Hotel for LGBTIQ+ customers.

The program also features the use of Cuban medicines such as COVID-19 vaccines and Heberprot-P, which is used to treat diabetic foot ulcer.
