VARADERO, Cuba, Aug 13 (ACN) I am the most recently identified diabetic child in the territory and in these days I learned new practices to move forward, said Oscar Luis Rodriguez Carmona during the closing of the second cycle of the provincial Summer Camp for children with diabetes in Matanzas(western Cuba).
The children share with others who have the same condition, the parents help them, teach them, and it is an opportunity to be with people who deal with this disease, said Dianelys Camacho Perez, mother of Aaron Luis Cruz, who has been living with the disease for six and a half years.
We consider that the open and directional exchange with the relatives gives us elements to improve the quality of care for the infant and although there are material difficulties that have an impact, we believe that the objective has been achieved, said Jose Hernandez Hernandez, pediatrician by training and deputy general director of Health in Matanzas.
The doctor explained that the idea is to develop a camp of coexistence of health, wellbeing and quality of life, where diabetic children of the province, accompanied by their father, mother or legal guardian, in cycles of four days and three nights, coincide with a multidisciplinary team that orients and attends to impact on patients and companions.
Since the last 6th, the Sun Beach Hotel, in this resort city, hosts the provincial Summer Camp for diabetic children of Matanzas, a novel and humane experience that will last until the next 26th.
