Cuban minister attends 76th World Health Assembly



HAVANA, Cuba, May 21 (ACN) Cuba's Minister of Public Health, Dr. José Angel Portal Miranda, is participating in the 76th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, in the context of the 75th anniversary of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The conference has scheduled a number of strategic roundtables in which delegates, partner agencies, representatives of civil society, and WHO experts discuss current and future priorities for public health issues of global importance.

Portal Miranda spoke at the meeting of heads of delegations from the Americas, who recognized Cuba's international cooperation and elected the Island to the Assembly's General Committee.

Held annually in the same venue with delegations from WHO Member States, the World Health Assembly is mainly intended to determine the policies of the Organization, appoint the Director-General, supervise financial policies, and review and approve the proposed program budget.
