Soberana Centro clinical trial in central Cuba comes to an end

CIENFUEGOS, Cuba, Dec 1 (ACN) Phase II of the Soberana Centro clinical trial in the province of Cienfuegos will finish today with an evaluation of the results in the participating municipalities where the vaccines created by the Finlay Vaccine Institute were administered to more than 1,160 residents.

Approved by the Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices, the research is aimed at creating several vaccine candidates to deal with the possible circulation in Cuba of new strains of the SARS virus CoV-2, which causes the disease known as COVID-19.

When the study began, the Soberanas were still vaccine candidates, but they were endorsed by the safety and immunogenicity values achieved as part of Phase I clinical trials.
