HOLGUIN, Cuba, Jan 11 (ACN) With the delivery to the province of Holguin of 500, 000 doses of the Cuban vaccine Abdala, the eastern territory extends the booster immunization to populations and groups at risk, as part of the priorities of the public health sector for the control of the COVID-19.
The process includes the 14 municipalities, where there are more than 200 sites, which have the necessary conservation conditions and trained personnel for the inoculation of the drug, the first in Latin America to receive the emergency use authorization for its use by the Cuban regulatory authority.
Ruben Sierra, an official of the institution in charge of the vaccination, told Cuban News Agency that the vaccine will be administered to all those people with three months of the last dose of the primary scheme, complying with the established requirements.
He specified that the immunization, which has already been administered to more than 80, 000 people, must be accompanied by individual responsibility for the fulfillment of hygienic-sanitary measures such as hand washing, the use of masks and the disinfection of surfaces with alcoholic solutions.
Holguin already has more than 600,000 people vaccinated against SarsCov-2, in the more than 900 certified vaccinatories in the 14 municipalities, prioritizing the most vulnerable people due to age, associated pathologies or exposure to the virus.
Some 9 million Cubans are immunized with Abdala, Soberana Plus and Soberana 02, created and patented by science in the Caribbean island, with 100 % effectiveness in serious prevention and death.
