COVID-19 in Cuba: 967 new cases, 537 discharges and no deaths

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 5 (ACN) Cuba reported today 967 new COVID-19 cases, 537 hospital discharges and no fatalities.

Up until yesterday, 2,805 people remain hospitalized, with 5 and 22 of them in critical and serious condition, respectively, according to the daily report of the Ministry of Public Health.

At the close of yesterday, January 4, 8,711 patients were still in hospital and 5,270 were suspected cases, whereas 636 were under surveillance and 2,805 were confirmed cases.

A total of 20,418 samples were taken during the day, and 967 tested positive. Cuba has taken 11,769,922 samples, and 969,138 have been confirmed as positive.

Of the 967 positive cases, 26.3% (254) were asymptomatic, making a total of 134,383 cases (13.8% of those confirmed to date).
