HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 5 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel praised today on Twitter the progress of the COVID-19 booster vaccine, already administered to more than two million Cubans.
He stressed that the production and nationwide distribution of the Cuban immunogens is gaining speed given the danger of the Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and that the Ministry of Public Health has stated that all Cuban must have received the booster dose by the end of this month.
Cuba accelerated the vaccination program with the booster dose in view of Omicron’s spread and based on the evidence that it will provide further protection against COVID-19 infection.
This additional shot is for people who have already completed the whole vaccination scheme—more than 9,673,000 citizens so far—with the Cuban immunogens Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala.
