Havana, Dec 29 (ACN) Mexico authorized the emergency use of the Cuban COVID-19 vaccine Abdala, according to the BioCubaFarma Biotechnical and Pharmaceutical Conglomerate.
The Mexican authorization further expands the international use of Cuban COVID-19 vaccines, according to BioCubaFarma’s Twitter which also said that Mexico could now import the Abdala vaccine for its national vaccination policy against the SARS-CoV-2 virus in citizens over 19 years of age.
According to the Cuban Health Ministry, the vaccine proved a 100-percent effective in preventing the systemic and severe disease and the death of vaccinated patients.
Abdala was the first COVID-19 vaccine created in Latin America by scientists with the Cuban Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center; its proven efficacy (92,28 percent) makes it one of the best vaccines in the world against the pandemic.
