COVID-19 in Cuba: 80 new cases, one death and 87 discharges

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 9 (ACN) Cuba reported today 80 new COVID-19 cases, 87 medical discharges and one fatality.

Up until yesterday, 355 people remain hospitalized, with 5 and 8 of them in critical and serious condition, respectively, according to the daily report of the Ministry of Public Health.

At the close of yesterday, December 21, 2,578 patients had been admitted and 2,048 were suspected cases, whereas 175 were under surveillance and 355 were confirmed cases.

A total of 16,261 samples were taken during the day, and 80 tested positive. Cuba has taken 11,497,863 samples, and 964,317 have been confirmed as positive.

Of the 80 positive cases, 48.8% (39) were asymptomatic, making a total of 133,000 cases (13.8% of those confirmed to date).
