HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 6 (ACN) The municipalities of Guanabacoa, Regla, East Havana and San Miguel del Padron, in this capital, began today the massive anti-COVID-19 booster vaccination, with the Cuban immunogen Abdala.
The local newspaper Tribuna de La Habana reported that these territories were chosen for the first stage of the booster because they were the ones that started the immunization campaign in May.
Health authorities in the province informed that all people who are not convalescing from COVID-19 and who have been immunized for six months with the full schedule of any vaccine will be included in this process.
According to the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, regardless of the primary immunization schedule received, the Abdala and Soberana Plus vaccines can be used as booster doses.
As of December 4, the anti-COVID-19 vaccination program underway in the country had included 83 % of the population: 9,286,956 people.
In addition, a total of 435,041 people have received booster doses, 65,330 of them as part of clinical studies and 369,711 as part of the booster vaccination of the population of selected territories and at-risk groups.
