Havana, Nov 30 (ACN) Cuba is currently working on a specific vaccine to fight the new COVID-19 variant named Omicron, said the President of the Cuban Biotech Conglomerate BioCubaFarma, Eduardo Martinez.
On his Twitter account, Martinez said they are closely following reports on the behavior of the new variant and added that they are already designing vaccines which can be developed in a short time.
On Monday, Cuba announced the reinforcement of control and sanitary measures at international airports in the face of the spread of Omicron, a COVID-19 variant described as “of concern” by the World Health Organization.
As of December 4th, all travelers coming from South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia, Malawi and Eswatini must present a vaccination certificate, a 72-hour negative PCR test, and stay in quarantine in a hotel for seven days on their own budgets, till testing negative to a second PCR.
