Cuba marks pharmaceutical worker's day



HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 22 (ACN) Cuban PM Manuel Marrero praised today on Twitter the celebration in the country of the Day of the Pharmaceutical Worker and sent congratulations to the workers of that sector.

Marrero recalled that the date is celebrated in tribute to the anniversary of the birth of Cuban revolutionary Antonio Guiteras Holmes (1906-1935), one of the country's first pharmacists, who graduated in 1927 from the University of Havana and dedicated his efforts to the development of pharmacy in Cuba..

On the occasion of the celebrations for the date, the Cuban ministry of health (MINSAP by its Spanish acronym) also recognized on Twitter pharmacists and their contribution to the fight against COVID-19.

The Business Group of the Biotechnological and Pharmaceutical Industries of Cuba (BioCubaFarma) similarly congratulated on the same social media network the workers of the sector.

At the same time, the Center for Research and Development of Medicines (CIDEM) also joined in the congratulations to the workers of that industry, and praised those of the center for their dedication, commitment and results.

The Medicine Marketing and Distribution Company, the National Biopreparations Center and the Placental Histotherapy Center, among others, also congratulated all Cuban pharmacists on their day.

Cuba has more than 21 pharmacy professionals and 3,000 pharmacies, of which 2,170 are community ones.
