HOLGUÍN, Cuba, Oct 6 (ACN) A new ICT tool to streamline COVID-19-related medical research is already in use in the province of Holguin as part of the actions to reduce as much as possible the waiting times to get the results of these studies.
Through the Telegram social network and using the patient's ID card number, it is possible to know whether the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Ultra Microanalytical System (SUMA) tests proved positive or negative, according to the website of the Provincial Public Health Division.
The digital publication explains that the system, already active in the health network of the province, will make it possible to optimize hospital capacity management and reduce risks at community level by preventing patients from being there longer than necessary, especially in the hardest it municipalities.
At the same time, the software improves the work with databases related to the behavior of the new coronavirus and speeds up the application of the medical protocols established by the Ministry of Public Health.
This tool is part of the society informatization programs, a multi-sector strategy aimed at promoting the use of new technologies among the Cuban population and boosting e-commerce, the online payment of utilities and other advantages.
Projects are under way in the health sector to keep spreading the use of digital radiography, the computerization of medical records and digital medical histories, among other uses intended to improve the quality of patient care, according to the Infomed website.
