Cuba reported 9,772 new cases of COVID 19, 7,588 discharges and 68 deaths

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 17 (ACN) Cuba studied 41,023 samples for COVID 19, resulting in 9,772 positive ones. The country accumulates 7, 244,102 samples taken and 536,609 positive.

At the end of August 16, 97,076 patients were admitted, 48,254 suspected, 4,664 under surveillance and 44,158 confirmed active.

Of the total number of cases, 9,748 were contacts of confirmed cases; 8 with source of infection abroad and 16 without source of infection. There were 7,588 medical discharges (54 more), accumulated 488,238 recovered patients (90.9%) and 68 people died. A total of 469 confirmed patients are being treated in ICUs, including 115 in critical and 354 in serious condition.

Of the 9,772 positive cases, 3.8% (373) were asymptomatic, totaling 112,903, representing 21% of those confirmed to date, and the diagnosed cases belong to the following age groups: under 20 years of age (2,023), from 20 to 39 (2,641), from 40 to 59 (3,101) and over 60 (2,007).
