HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 21 (ACN) The general director of the Finlay Vaccine Institute (IFV), Vicente Verez Bencomo, announced that Cuba is creating the capacity for the production of one hundred million doses of the injectable vaccine Soberana 02, against COVID-19.
During a press conference offered to foreign media accredited in the country, Verez Bencomo expressed that the objective is to satisfy the needs of the drug in the nation to immunize the whole population, free of charge, during this year.
The president of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, highlighted the news today on Twitter, quoting a link to a Granma newspaper report that the doses produced in the country will also be sent to other nations interested in acquiring Soberana 02, among them Vietnam, Iran, Venezuela, Pakistan and India.
According to the general director of the Finlay Vaccine Institute, the Cuban strategy to market the vaccine has a combination of humanity and impact on world health.
