HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 2 (ACN) Experts from the Cuban medical mission in Venezuela guarantee the processing of PCR samples for the diagnosis of COVID-19, in a modern laboratory of molecular biology.
According to Prensa Latina, Cuban specialists in epidemiology, microbiology, biochemistry and virology, with high qualification and experience in the handling of top technology, work in real time to detect the presence of the pathogen SARS-Cov-2.
The laboratory located in the National Center of Medical Genetics, Dr. Jose Gregorio Hernandez, in Guarenas parish, in Miranda state, has the most demanding biosecurity conditions, technological resources and trained personnel to process about a thousand tests a day.
The Cuban Center of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) participated in the consulting for the certification and start up of the technological equipment, as well as the process steps in the laboratory opened in early last September.
The facility, the only one of its kind managed by Cuban experts in the South American nation, offers an important contribution to the fight to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.
