Ukrainian TV highlights work of the Cuban medical contingent Henry Reeve

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 23 (ACN) The Ukrainian TV show RANOK made a report in honor of the 15th anniversary of the creation of the Henry Reeve contingent of Cuban doctors, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlights on its official website (Cubaminrex).

The report highlighted the work of this group in the fight against the pandemic in 24 countries around the world and reaffirmed support for the request to award them the Nobel Peace Prize for the work carried out in the tough battle against COVID-19.
The brigade was created on September 19, 2005, under the guidance of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro (1926-2016).
Their initial goal was to provide aid to the population affected by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, United States, despite the fact that such aid was rejected.
Cubaminrex adds that the name given to this group was Henry Reeve, in memory of the young American hero who died fighting for the independence of Cuba.
The work of the medical contingent, only one of its kind in the world, is a representation of the humanistic and supportive character of the Cuban Revolution, the text says.
