Cuba and Iran review possible cooperation against COVID-19


HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 10 (ACN) Cuba and Iran ratified the willingness to cooperate in tackling the COVID-19 and to take advantage of the potentialities and experience of both nations to eradicate the damages caused by the pandemic, the Cuban foreign ministry said Thursday.

A report in its website, Cubaminrex, refers to the meeting held between Alexis Bandrich, Cuban ambassador to Tehran, and Alireza Zali, head of the main office for the fight against the coronavirus in the capital province of that Islamic Republic.
Despite the continuous economic, financial and commercial hostility by the US government, which has increased in the current circumstances, the Cuban and Iranian scientific community continue fighting for the health of their people and for strengthening cooperation, the statement states.
According to the information, during the friendly meeting at the Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Rector Zali and part of his team, as well as the Cuban diplomat, agreed to take advantage of the potential and experience reached by the two nations to overcome the damages of the COVID-19. The Iranian side expressed its interest in completing as soon as possible an effective cooperation relationship that not only includes Cuba's achievements in the fight against the pandemic, but also the expansion of academic and scientific exchange.
This collaboration would also contemplate the transfer of technology and the joint work with the use of other Cuban products of proven validity in the fight against different diseases.
