HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 28 (ACN) Carlos Pereira, Cuban ambassador to China, thanked the municipality of Chongqing, in the southwest of the country, for its donation of lung ventilators in support of the confrontation with COVID-19.
The diplomat highlighted on Twitter the reception by Zhang Yongwu, director general of the Foreign Affairs Office that huge region, where the Yangtze and Jialing rivers converge.
Pereira's visit to that town is a propitious opportunity to exchange with local businessmen and present the opportunities for cooperation between both parties, according to the Cuban embassy in China.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic in the Caribbean nation, the government of Beijing has donated equipment and medical supplies to face the new disease; collaboration with other Latin American countries and sustained exchanges on best practices for prevention and treatment are added to this.
China and Cuba established diplomatic relations in 1960 and since then they have maintained a growing exchange in the trade, political and cultural fields.
