HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 19 (ACN) Velissarios Kossivakis, administrator of the Greek Team for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize to the Henry Reeve Cuban Medical Brigade, reported that they today presented the Honor Committee for that initiative.
Kossivakis stressed that this committee has 350 members, made up of personalities from Greek socio-cultural and political life and also includes university students, artists from different areas of the cultural sphere, deputies, politicians, intellectuals and trade unionists.
He told Prensa Latina news agency that it is the least they can do to recognize the most supportive and humanitarian work of a geographically small country, but immense in its attitude to cast its lot with the poor of Earth.
The Greek leader highlighted that, until yesterday, they had collected more than 65,000 signatures in favor; number that he explained does not stop growing, while calling on those who wish to join in doing so on several easily accessible digital sites.
The list of relevant members of the Honor Committee includes Kostas Sarantidis, a legendary Greek figure who supported the initiative at 96 years of age and maintains his vitality and political creeds.
Sarantidis is known by the nickname of Viet Kostas as he was sent to Saigon as a member of the French Foreign Legion, where he deserted and joined the Viet Minh Liberation Front to later join the movement of national liberation (Vietcong) in South Vietnam.
