HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 10 (acn) After the hard-fought victory of Granma in the opening game of the 2018 season, all the teams (16) enrolled in the 58th Cuban National Baseball Series will have action today.
Granma, defending monarch, beat 8-7 Las Tunas yesterday in match scheduled between the two finalists of the previous year.
The win went to right-hander Cesar Garcia after allowing two runs and six hits in same amount of innings, while Juan D. Perez earned the save and Yoalkis Cruz took the loss when surrendering five runs and six hits in 1.2 innings.
There was offensive highlight to 3B Osvaldo Abreu when batting 3 for 3 with an RBI for the winning side.
Today, the first official matchday of the 2018 season includes the following pairings: Cienfuegos-Pinar del Rio, Sancti Spiritus-Artemisa, Isla de la Juventud-Industriales, Mayabeque-Matanzas, Holguin-Villa Clara, Camaguey-Ciego de Avila, Guantanamo-Las Tunas and Santiago de Cuba-Granma, always with the second squads as home-club.
