HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 30 (acn) Cuban Osleni Guerrero reached his highest ever position in the badminton world ranking when appearing 43rd of that list, according to the latest update of the International Federation of the discipline.
Guerrero, with 29 030 points, remains as leader in the Americas, followed by American Howard Shu, who is ranked 57th, with 25 991 units.
Guatemalan Kevin Cordon ( 64th) appears third among the most prominent of the American continent with a score of 24 257.
Precisely Cordon beat Guerrero in the men's singles final of the Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz , in November last year.
Miguel Diaz, president of the Cuban Federation of the sport, told reporters that Guerrero will travel next February 2 to Peru, where he will defend the crown of the International Tournament organized by this nation.
That event -granting 2 500 points for the world list, will begin on February 19 to 22, but before the Cuban athlete will develop a training base.
In 2014, the 25 year old player won the title at the Pan American Championships in Canada, as well as the awards in the international tournaments of Venezuela and Peru, and finished third in the Brazil Grand Prix and the " Giraldilla" of Havana.
