Swiss company Andrayas performs during the 20th Belgian Week in Cuba

MATANZAS, Cuba, November 7 (ACN) To mark the 20th Belgian Week in Cuba, the Swiss company Andrayas presented a unique performance that combined theater, movement, images, and music at the historic Sauto Theater, a National Monument coliseum.

Markus Schmidt, a mime, movement, and object manipulation actor with the visiting company, explained that “the entire work transforms words into movement, images, as in sculpture or painting; the composition has a powerful expressiveness and a way of moving from small details in image and sound to larger things.”

Alongside Schmidt, Stéfaane de Rycke contributed the music, reinforcing the fusion of visual and sonic expression that characterizes Andrayas. Schmidt noted that the company's artistic approach is based on “theater of movement, images, and music” with a “dramaturgy of visual objects.”

Currently, the company expects to tour the entire country until April, and its artists commented on their intention to invite Cuban musicians "to make the work more Cuban and enrich the musical participation."

Mathias Kende, the Belgian ambassador to Cuba, highlighted the importance of this celebration: "Belgian Week is very important; today we celebrate its twentieth anniversary, and next year we want to increase the thematic coverage, not only in culture but also in sports.

Culture is a bridge that guides cultures, Cuban culture, which is incredibly rich, and Belgian culture; we hope to continue and increase this collaboration," the diplomat emphasized.

The ambassador also confirmed that the agenda will include visits to other provinces such as Pinar del Rio and territories in the eastern part of the country.
