Nuestra America Humanitarian Aid Flotilla Arrives in Havana

Havana, March 24 (ACN) A boat part of the “Nuestra America” humanitarian Convoy to Cuba docked at Havana harbor Tuesday morning with material aid for the Cuban people.

The arrival of the vessel, which departed last Friday from Puerto Progreso in Yucatán, is part of a solidarity initiative promoted by organizations and collectives seeking to deliver a shipment of around 30 tons of essential supplies and resources, in response to the tightening of the blockade and energy-related restrictions imposed by the United States government against the island.

Thiago Ávila, an influencer and leader of the crew, stated that a mission like this should not exist in a world that fully respects international law—something that does not occur when there is a unilateral blockade condemned by the majority of the international community, which constitutes a crime and an act of economic warfare.

He emphasized that in the face of these intentions by Washington, the peoples of the world come together in solidarity to bypass that blockade and reach the largest of the Antilles, which has taught so many around the planet to be supportive and internationalist.

He also condemned the indiscriminate use of sanctions and coercive measures against peoples who defend their sovereignty in the face of imperialism, and reaffirmed that friends around the world will not allow that objective to be achieved.

The donations collected come from a network of social organizations and international collectives that have promoted similar initiatives in other contexts.

This initiative is supported by international organizations and joins other recent efforts to support Cuba from Mexico, led by the government of that country headed by President Claudia Sheinbaum.
