Cuban minister of transport evaluates bus production at national company

HAVANA, Cuba, January 13 (ACN) Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, Minister of Transportation, toured the Evelio Prieto Guillama Bus Manufacturing Company (Caisa), located in Guanajay, in the western province of Artemisa, to check on compliance with agreements and work projections for the new year, El Artemiseño reported.

During the visit, the minister was accompanied by Henry Rodríguez Terrero, director of the Havana Transportation Company, and received information from Iosvany Frías Álvarez, general director of Caisa, about the limitations that affected the delivery of buses destined for the capital's passenger transportation system.

Prolonged power outages and difficulties with fuel supply in the second half of 2025 prevented meeting the established deadlines for the delivery of the vehicles.

Frías Álvarez explained that the company received a donation from the People's Republic of China of parts and pieces for repairs, while others are produced in-house or contracted from national industry.

Pablo Horta Galán, technical director of Caisa, indicated that they began work with the Yutong 6118 model, a rigid bus, whose repair is less complex because it was previously assembled at the company and the workers have access to manuals and experience.

The production plan includes 60 rigid buses and 40 articulated buses, to complete one hundred vehicles by 2026.

During his tour of the assembly areas, Rodríguez Dávila verified the quality of the finished equipment and announced that the company's management committed to delivering the first eight buses this month.

The minister congratulated the people and transport workers of Artemisa on the province's 15th anniversary and highlighted the planned road improvements to enhance their quality.

Caisa, the only bus assembly plant in Cuba, is a strategic industrial hub for the modernization of public transport, import substitution, and the guarantee of mobility services for the population, under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport.
