Cuban Foreign Ministry denounces aggressive US Cuba policy

HAVANA, Cuba, January 8 (ACN) Cuba's Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Rafael Fernández de Cossío denounced the aggressive US policy on the island and alerted to the intensification of the US blockade following recent statements by anti-Cuban politicians in that country.

The diplomat pointed out that, after the terrorist attack against Venezuela, anti-Cuban politicians in the US are spreading dire predictions for Cuba and remarked that economic war waged from Washington seriously tampers with national performance and people’s standard of living and intends to goad the population into blaming the Cuban government.

He pointed out that the damage the US can inflict on any nation is undeniable, as seen in the trade measures applied to strategic partners in developed economies, which have caused concern in their respective governments, and recalled that for almost seven decades Cuba has faced and will continue to face huge challenges imposed by the US blockade.

Mr. Fernández emphasized that despite presenting themselves as experts on Cuba, what the anti-Cuban politicians forget is that the Cuban people boast a high level of education and access to national and international information, so they clearly understand the US' role in causing hardship in their daily life and in the country's development.

He reiterated that, despite the difficulties, Cuba has made great achievements in multiple areas, demonstrating its resilience and its will to keep defending its sovereignty.
