HAVANA, Cuba, January 7 (ACN) At a meeting with the Party Committees of the province of Pinar del Río, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel urged Party and Government officials to maintain the spirit of the 11th Plenum of Central Committee of the Communist Party, held last December.
His appeal was to leave at the end with a realistic plan, deadlines, and designated individuals capable of taking care of every economic agreement and rendering accounts in a transparent manner.
He warned that transformations are urgently needed, starting with different mindsets, approaches and methods, and referred to the neighborhoods, local councils and municipalities as the most urgent and important scenes.
“The success of this assembly and those we will hold throughout the country will depend on the daily conduct of every Party member and every official”, he stressed.
The participants discussed the role of the rank and file in expediting solutions to priority issues such as food production, exports, increasing foreign exchange earnings, local development, and electricity generation, among others within their purview.
This is the first of the Extraordinary Plenums of the Provincial Committees of the Party scheduled to be held across the island to review the implementation of the agreements reached at the 11th Plenum and to define the commitments made by each province to address the current situation in the country.
