Havana, Jan 7 (ACN) The Havana-based Casa de las Americas cultural institution denounced the US aggression against Venezuela and called to defend peace and sovereignty of “our America.”
The cultural institution recalled, through an official statement on social media, that on January 3 regional calm was shattered by a U.S. attack on Venezuela and the subsequent seizure of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
Defending Venezuela today is defending the sovereignty of all peoples and the right to a future without wars in our America, the institution stated.
The text warned that following the initial offensive, threats of looting Venezuela’s resources and possible actions against other countries have been announced, posing a danger to the region’s stability and self-determination.
Casa de las Americas demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Maduro and his wife, an end to all foreign interference, and full respect for the sovereignty of the people of that Latin American nation.
