Cuban Youth Reject US Attack on Venezuela

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 3 (ACN) The Union of Young Communists (UJC) today denounced in a statement the military aggression carried out in the early hours of this morning by the United States against Venezuela.

The text, published by the First Secretary of the organization's National Committee, Meyvis Estévez, states that the United States Government perpetrated state terrorism against the Venezuelan people and the region, declared a Zone of Peace since 2014.

It asserts that the "Trump Corollary" is claiming Venezuelan lives, shamelessly violating the peace and tranquility of the entire region under false pretexts.

On behalf of the new generations, the UJC denounces and urgently demands a reaction from the international community: "Acts of barbarism against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Venezuela cannot go unpunished."

The statement recalls that Cuba has systematically warned about and denounced the grave threat of the US Government's military deployment against Venezuela, and today they have directly attacked the people of Venezuela, against civilians and military personnel.

We will not be passive witnesses to the old imperial script written in blood in Latin America. We will not normalize the barbarism against the brotherly people of Venezuela, it emphasizes.

It adds that the aggression flagrantly violates the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and International Law; it is an affront to the self-determination and sovereignty of the Venezuelan people.

Cuban youth, forged in struggle and resistance, stand alongside Venezuela. We accompany the Venezuelan people and youth who are mobilizing in the streets and on social networks, defending the Great Homeland with Bolivarian dignity. We see in them the children of Chávez. Their struggle is also ours, assures the UJC.
Furthermore, it highlights that Cuban youth stand beside the homeland of Simón Bolívar and Hugo Chávez, as defenders of peace.

Together, with a young and rebellious soul, we promise to always be loyal to the brotherhood between our nations. Always loyal to Fidel Castro and to Chávez, concludes the text.
