HAVANA, Cuba, December 5 (ACN) Cuba and Norway held inter-ministerial political consultations on Thursday in Havana, chaired by Carlos Miguel Pereira Hernandez, Director General of Bilateral Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex by its Spanish acronym), and Torgeir Larsen, Secretary General of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the Cubaminrex website, during the meeting both parties expressed their willingness to advance bilateral relations, promote constructive dialogue based on mutual respect, and continue working to strengthen economic and trade ties.
Cuba expressed its gratitude for Norway's long-standing support for the resolution against the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States, which was endorsed by that country at the UN General Assembly.
Also participating in the meeting were Laura Soler Diaz, Director of Trade Policy with Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment, and Roberto Victorio Fernandez, Director for Europe and Canada at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Relations between Cuba and Norway have remained stable and respectful, with an emphasis on political and diplomatic cooperation. Both countries maintain official ties expressed through the exchange of ambassadors and joint participation in international forums.
In November 2025, Hugo Rene Ramos Milanes, Cuba's ambassador to Norway, presented his credentials to King Harald V and conveyed the Cuban government's gratitude for Norway's support at the United Nations.
Norway has been a constant ally of Cuba in the multilateral arena, supporting initiatives related to peace, international cooperation, and respect for international law.
Solidarity activities promoted by Norwegian groups, such as the Norway-Cuba Friendship Association and the Communist Party of Norway, have also taken place.
The bilateral relationship focuses on political dialogue and international cooperation rather than economic exchange, although both sides have expressed interest in strengthening trade ties.
Cuba recognizes Norway as a relevant partner in mediation and peace issues, and their ties are characterized by cordiality, mutual respect and political support in multilateral organizations, consolidating a relationship that strengthens Cuba's position in the international arena.
